Vegetables and Fruits

A variety of fruits and vegetables have been field tested at the farm. We search for produce that are nutritionally dense. Blueberries, raspberries and broccoli are a good example of nutritionally dense produce. The Saskatoon berry, with an antioxidant profile similar to the blueberry, was introduced three years ago and is thriving. Its cherry almond flavor is highly coveted by the food industry in Germany and Canada. Our 24 varieties of Tomatoes include both heirloom and new hybrids. One third of our tomatoes will be grown using the inversion method this year. The inversion method has reportedly higher yields and less pest invasion because the plants are grown in buckets suspended above the ground.

Heirloom apple trees have graced the property for decades. A major undertaking to prune and restore the apple trees over the past four years resulted in a heavy yield of fruit last year. The golden transparent, a variety with roots from Russia is one of the earliest bearing tree’s on the property.
